For more than two decades interaction of conflict, destructive political processes and natural disasters have caused destruction and breakdown of basic infrastructure,such as, health and education facilities.UNICEF with the support of partners is working in 22 provinces of Afghanistan on treatment of severe acute malnutrition through community-based management of acute malnutrition program, also known as CMAM. In this program the children come to clinic once a week, are monitored on their progress and given enough “special therapeutic food” to eat at home until their next visit.
